Certificate of Registration of European Union Citizen

It is the document that certifies the registration in the Register of Foreigners of the citizens of a Member State of the European Union or of another State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area who will reside in Spain for a period of more than three months.

  • Citizens of a Member State of the U.E. or another State party to the E.E.E. Agreement who are going to reside in Spain for a period of more than three months, are obliged to apply personally to the Office of Foreigners of the province where they intend to stay or settle their residence or, failing that, to the corresponding Police Station, their registration in the Central Register of Foreigners. Such application must be submitted within three months from the date of entry into Spain, and must be issued immediately with a registration certificate stating the name, nationality and domicile of the person registered, his foreigner ID number, and the date of registration.
  • Who are the interested parties?
    • Citizens of the European Union or of another State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or of the Swiss Confederation.
  • Period of validity
    • Once you have legally resided in Spain for a continuous period of five years, at the request of the interested party, a certificate of the right to reside on a permanent basis will be issued.

    Before the Immigration Offices of the province where the interested party intends to remain or fix his residence or, failing that, before the corresponding Police Stations .

    • Personally within three months from the date of entry into Spain
