Certificate of Registration of European Union Citizen

It is the document that certifies the registration in the Central Register of Foreigners of citizens of a Member State of the European Union or of another State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area who will reside in Spain for a period of more than three months.

  • Citizens of an EU Member State. or of another State party to the E.E.E. Agreement who will be residing in Spain for a period of more than three months, are obliged to apply personally to the Office of Foreigners of the province where they intend to stay or establish their residence or, failing that, to the corresponding Police Station, their registration in the Central Register of Foreigners. This application must be submitted within three months from the date of entry into Spain, and a registration certificate will be issued immediately stating the name, nationality and domicile of the person registered, his foreigner identity number, and the date of registration.
  • Who are the stakeholders?
    • Citizens of the European Union or of another State party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area or of the Swiss Confederation.
  • Period of validity
    • Once you have resided legally in Spain for a continuous period of five years, at the request of the interested party, a certificate of the right to reside permanently will be issued.

    Before the Immigration Offices of the province where the interested party intends to stay or establish his residence or, failing that, before the corresponding Police Stations .
