Authorization and renewal of temporary residence for exceptional circumstances (collaboration with police, tax or judicial authorities, or reasons of national security, as well as collaboration in the fight against organized networks or against trafficking in human beings)

  • An authorisation may be granted to persons who collaborate with the police, tax or judicial authorities in matters outside the fight against organised networks, or when there are national security reasons justifying the need to authorise their residence in Spain, as well as by collaboration with the same authorities in the fight against organised networks and in the case of trafficking in human beings.
  • Who are the interested parties?
    • Foreign citizens who cooperate with the Police, Tax and Judicial Authorities and with national security.
  • Period of validity
    • The period of validity, both of the initial authorization and of its extensions, is one year in the cases of collaboration with the police, fiscal or judicial authorities in matters not related to the fight against organized networks, or when national security reasons arise.
    • In the case of cooperation in the fight against organised networks or against trafficking in human beings, the provisional authorisation will be effective from the moment of notification of its concession and until a decision is made on the request for final authorisation. However, the Foreigner Identity Card will be renewable on an annual basis. In these cases, the final concession will be valid for five years.
  • Specific requirements
    • Those determined in the different chapters of Title VII of the R.D. 1155/2024, 19 November, depending on the type of temporary residence permit requested.

    • The administration will be carried out personally, except in the cases in which the request can be submitted by its legal representative.
      • In the event of collaboration with the police, fiscal or judicial authorities in matters not related to the fight against organized networks, or when national security reasons are present, before the competent body for its processing.
      • In case of collaboration in the fight against organized networks before the corresponding Immigration Police Unit.
      • In the event of collaboration in the fight against trafficking in human beings, it will be presented to the Government Delegation or Subdelegation that has determined the exemption of responsibility.

    • In the event of collaboration with the police, fiscal or judicial authorities in matters not related to the fight against organized networks, or when national security reasons are present, before the competent body for its processing.
