Foreigner Procedures

To accredit to other bodies periods of legal residence in Spain.

The foreigner applies for a certificate that certifies all (cumulative) periods of residence since he or she obtained such status.

Who are the interested parties?
- Foreigners (EU and non-EU) residing legally in Spain.
Period of validity
- 3 months since your expedition.
Resolution of the procedure
- The procedure must be completed within a maximum period of five days from the entry of the application in the register of the body responsible for processing it. The decision must be notified within that period, after which no reply has been received, it shall be deemed that the request has been rejected.

The Directorate-General of Police is requested either directly or through the Immigration Offices. Opens a new window. External link. or Police Stations. In the event that the foreigner is not in Spanish territory at the time of the application, the General Commissariat of Foreigners and Borders will be requested, through the Spanish Consular Offices abroad.

Application for Foreigner Identification Number (NIE) and Certificates (Form EX15)
Proof of payment Tax model 790 Code 012.
Copy of the full passport, travel certificate, registration card or identity document if the applicant is a citizen of the European Union.

  - The procedure must be resolved within a maximum period of five days from the entry of the application in the register of the competent body for processing.
  - The decision on the procedure does put an end to the administrative procedure.
