What is the electronic certificate?

What is the purpose of the electronic certificate?
The electronic certificate guarantees the identity of the user, which allows to carry out the procedures that require secure identification by the user. It also allows the electronic signature of electronic forms and documents, which has the same legal validity as the handwritten signature on the paper document.
